Many would have considered our client’s one-car Portland garage not worth saving. But we saw an opportunity in this structure’s strong foundation and classic framing. We converted this garage into a 235 sq ft ADU, removing the collar ties and installing a ridge beam to create a larger space. The result is a minimalist rental unit that nevertheless feels like home.
